Six hikers went to California to hike from Kangaroo Lake to Bull Lake. The weather predicted had potential rain and some wind.
This trail starts uphill right from the beginning along the Fen Trail. There are still a few flowers and the Californica Darlingtonias were still green.
We made some wardrobe adjustments when we got to the Kangaroo Lake overlook. From there we connected to the PCT. As we hiked, my Lightning app detected some strikes so I checked to see the location and was happy that they were east of Mount Shasta and not near us. We still paid attention to the clouds.
As we made our way along, we saw whete the Sisson Callahan trail connected to the PCT. We could also see down to Robber's Meadow and some ponds below.
We reached the part of the trail that connects to the Bull Lake Trail. Mount Shasta was in the clouds and not visible. We made our way down to the lake and had our lunch. A cold wind picked up and we put more layers back on.
Bob asked about continuing around the lake. We decided to gave it a try and ended up with an easy bushwhack back to the PCT. As we were heading back, the temperature warmed up and we needed another wardrobe adjustment.
We arrived back at our cars around 2:30pm and had hiked 8.69 miles with 1,523 feet of gain. We took a drive around the campground and noticed some very nice camping spots before heading home.
