Nine regulars with hike leader Rich’s Monday group mustered on while Rich is recovering and, together with new hiker, Charlaine, traversed the trail toward Lost Creek Lake. All were rewarded with a refreshing air temperature, blue skies, and companionship David called “convivial.” David stepped up to lead the hike and stopped at lookout points like the stone wall on the way to the lunch stop,
Viewpoint Mike, a grass-covered bluff that delivered clear views of the picturesque lake and the Rogue River, and, hovering in the background, the Watchman peak first identified by Alison. After lunch, Patricia continued Rich’s tradition of passing out chocolate. Randy and Linda (who spotted an early blooming Snow Queen) and Steve captured images. Gary served cheerfully as sweep for the 6-mile RT with 1,000' of gain.
There was a slight dusting of snow on the trail.
We all missed spending the day with Rich. Recover fast, leader!
