A whopping group of 23 hikers rolled out for a local watershed hike. We welcomed four new hikers to the Ashland Hiking Group and had a round of introductions with a little background on each. Then we headed up the Bandersnatch trail climbing out of the city fog to pause at the knoll with a picnic bench. While catching our breaths, we enjoyed rays of sun and a view to Grizzly Peak dusted with snow.
We proceeded across a bike crossing to take the Bandersnatch to Red Queen for the short distance to enter the Snark Trail. We followed snark down, up and around to complete our loop back to the Bandersnatch TH. We had a few short breaks, but the size of the group and narrow trail without areas to gather, we arrived back having completed a relatively short journey a bit short of 4 miles. Gratitude to Joe Senter for being our sweep. We’d gained 600’ in the journey.
